Oh my god! this is really too bad! Well, I definitely agree with you there! This video should serve as a lesson for many drivers. Even if its only a dramatization, this teaches us the many possible dangers of texting while driving. Anyway, this seems so real. Thanks for sharing.

These sort of ads have been running for years in the UK. Ads showing a girl in the back seat not wearing a seatbelt killing her mum when they crash. An 8 year old girl being knocked down and killed by a driver doing 40mph in a 30 zone. A drunk driver killing a family in a crash. Etc etc.

There's the message. There's the enforcement too. Speed cameras everywhere. ANPR cameras linked to a database so police are alerted if banned/unlicensed/uninsured drivers are on the roads. And boy do people whinge and whine about it. Lack of freedom. Police state.

No big messages in Mexico. No real measures to catch offenders. Just lots and lots of needlessly dead bodies.

What's your choice? Proper legislation, promotion and enforcement, or your (not yours in particular) kids lying dead in a street somewhere. Easy choice I would have thought, but apparently it's right open for debate.

Good post though. I might put the video up myself.

I watched. I know it is a dramatization. But my stomach is still twisting. A friend was rear-ended by a texting teenager. He was not hurt too badly. But I always think how easy it would be to have an accident while phoning or texting or eating or any of the other things that distract us while we drive. In Mexico, I see young women texting while navigating pot-holed streets on motor scooters. What amazes me is that we do not see more text-related accidents.
